Summer 2010

 Dear Friends of Coro,

No indeed, your spring concert postcard wasn’t lost in the mail – we hit some unexpected turbulence in winter of 2009-2010, causing us to have to cancel the second half of the season. As many of you know, Amy LeClair had to step down as our Director because of a diagnosis of breast cancer late last fall. She has undergone some surgery, chemo and radiation treatments, and thankfully is doing very well. However, she was told by her doctors to cut back on her involvements in order to heal, so is not able to return. At the same time, several of our members faced personal complications that made doing any sort of spring season impossible.

For fall 2010, we’re planning to explore the Byrd Mass for Three Voices, some works of his contemporaries, including Thomas Tallis, as well as some 20th century English sacred music. We’re shooting for Nov. 20 and 21 – details to follow! In the spring, we’ll pick up the program we previously planned, Romance and Reinvention, 17th c Italian madrigals and 20th c American songs featuring birds, beasts, and fluttering hearts.

And, we are very pleased to announce that we will be working with Joshua Slater for the 2010-2011 season – you may remember him from fall, 2004, when he led us in a pair of mass settings of l’Homme Armé. That program was fun and challenging, and we’re very much looking forward to working with him again. When not rescuing Coro, he is music director at Church of Our Saviour in Brookline and directs Fujit, a chamber chorus. Check him out on Facebook!

As always, we want to express deepest thanks to all of you for your support, moral and financial, through the years. We have so appreciated your continuing support, and hope to continue to combine new pieces with our traditional repertory of Renaissance, Baroque and medieval music.

Warmly,

Barbara Boles, Deb Boling, Bob Cornell, Neal Currie, Patti Dillon, Christine  Draper, Shaun Hennessy-Torrisi, Anne Hyde, Sue Lupo,  Michael Pallazola, Jess Perry
